Atley turned 5 months old today. I usually would be celebrating, taking pictures, and writing in his baby book, but unfortunately, he's sick. It's the first time and I think he's still trying to figure it all out even though it's been a few days.
We took him to the doctor today and thankfully it's nothing too serious; just an upper respiratory infection. His breathing sounds like a monster truck and his coughs sound like the car the truck ran over. He doesn't quite smile as much as he usually does.Ian and I miss our fun, cute, little baby (he's still cute, but not as fun).
There was good news however. He's now 12lbs 8oz! In the past month he's almost gained 2 pounds!
But if you could, keep him in your prayers. Finals are next week and I can't seem to concentrate thinking about how sick my baby is (especially because this chapter in French is all about sickness). Not only do I think about him, but I can say exactly what's wrong with him in French.
We love you all, and hope you'll make it through and the cold season will pass you by!

New Developments
The past month for our little guy has been pretty eventful. Here's a little of what's been going on.

On March 1, Atley officially turned 4 months old. We celebrated by going to church! After Church, Atley's friend Emily came over to play. I noticed that they were kind of matching, so we took some pictures. It was cute. It kind of looks like they belong at a baby prom or something...

This is the official 4 month photo. He's getting so big!
Lately we've been feeding Atley a bottle to get him used to it in case Mom isn't around. That'll probably be the case more and more this summer since I'll be away at school most of the day. Now he's holding it all by himself! It's nice because it gives me a little more time to do things I need to.

Another discovery we've made this month is Atley LOVES books. I guess he inherited it from his Aunt Darien. He looks at them, holds them, grabs for them, and occassionally tries to eat them. He's also able to sit up with support so sometimes we let him read in Mom's chair.

Here's another time he was sitting in my chair. He was working on homework with Ian and as soon as Ian was finished, Atley was too. He was either bored from all the history, or wiped out because of all the information. I remember thinking I felt the same way on this day; exhausted!

Lastly, this past week we've started Atley on rice cereal! It's been a fun experience for us, but he is still getting used to the idea. Ian was lucky to get a good picture of him smiling. I think it's the only time he did! Here's the video!
This last thing is a video of Atley laughing. We like to play together and I'm intensely jealous of all the playing Ian and Atley will do this summer. I guess I just have to get my kicks while I can! Atley doesn't seem to mind either!

Videos Galore!
We've been taking a lot of videos of Atley latley because he's learning so many new things. The only reason they haven't been posted it because it takes quite a while to upload them. So, here's our baby in all his technicolor glory!
This is Atley laughing. Just one step above crying, but a big morale booster for Mom and Dad. You can ignore the annoying noises I make. What can I say? Atley loves them and I'd do almost anything to make him laugh.
This next one is real tears! It's weird that babies don't cry tears right off even if they're screaming. This is fun. Take note of his cute little pouty face too!
And here's Atley with his rattle. He's recently started grabbing it all by himself. It's a neat change to see. He's really starting to explore the space around him.

The Good News!
Today we received some wonderful news and would love to share with all of
you!
you!
Firstly, I'm graduating! It's not a surprise, but a blessing. I was
expecting to graduate in December, but we've recently decided it would be
better if I just got it all done this summer. Thus, my graduation date has
changed to July 2009! We're all really excited!
Secondly, since Atley is officially 4 months old we went to visit with the
doctor today. The diagnosis: well baby!! He measure 10lbs 15oz, 24 1/4
inches, and 16in around the head! His weight is still really low (in the 1%)
but the doctor says because of the good growth (and the size of his Daddy)
there's nothing to worry about. He also had a couple of shots, shed some
tears, and snuggled with Mom after. He did really well though, and we're
very proud!
